ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. the system information pad - an informative launchpad extension ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You're achieving the online helpsystem by doubleclicking on the info area
(that's the one with the circles).
To temporary disable the system information pad select the LaunchPad entry in
the window list and chose 'close'. By doubleclicking on the desktop area You
will gain the original LaunchPad. All threads are stopped and all resources
will have been freed. Rerunning this procedure will make the system information
pad reappear.
Use the LaunchPad settings dialog to configure the system information pad.
restrictions:
the system information pad is designed to extend a horizontal launchpad only.
the system information pad is designed for display resolutions of 1024 X 768
and up. It might work with lower resolutions but it won't look very pleasant !
Disabeling the clock might be possible in a later version.
take it or leave it ...
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.1. legend ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
abbreviation meaning
MEM physical memory available
SFS swapfile size
ASS available swap space
CPU cpu load
cpu load in percent; all other numbers represent megabytes !
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.2. clock ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
There's not a lot to say:
Enable or disable seconds indicator.
Maybe it will be possible to disable the clock in a later version.
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1.3. eMail watchdog ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
the system information pad might notify You when You just have received an
eMail.
Every eMail system logs Your incoming mail in a certain file. the system
information pad can monitor such a file and notify You, if the logfile grows.
If You want the system information pad to do so, specify the filename of the
logfile in the 'file to monitor' input field.
If You specify a delay time (in minutes), the system information pad will start
monitoring Your logfile not at system startup but right after the delay You've
specified. This might be useful in a network environment.
the system information pad knows two ways of notifying; a quiet one and a more
noticeable one. Specifying a value greater than zero in the 'loop for min'
input field makes the system information pad change to the quiet mode after a
certain period of time. A good value is the time of Your lunch break.
But don't worry: the notifying thread runs at minimal priority. It won't keep
Your machine from doing someting important even if it loops forever (Value 0).
If You just have received a mail, You can start Your favourite mailreader
directly from the system information pad by doubleclicking on the notifier. But
You have to tell the system information pad which mailreader to start by
specifying the executable with full path (!).
A single click on the notifier stops it.
